Senators’ N29m Earning Only Looks ‘Big on Paper’ – Ex-senator Abbo
A former senator who represented Adamawa North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Ishaku Abbo, has claimed that the monthly earnings of Nigerian senators are not enough for the demands and challenges of their office.
He added that the earnings are only “big on paper.”
Abbo disclosed this in an interview he had with Arise TV on Sunday, August 18.
He said: “Cumulatively when I was in the Senate, all the allowances put together was N14.4m per month. My salary was over N1m naira. You have a vehicle, wardrobe and other allowances put together to make up the N14.4m, including the N1 million salary.
“It is about N29 million now. N29 million looks big on paper. I’m saying this as an honest man. I’m not trying to support the National Assembly, and I’ve been a member of that vilified institution for five years. I am not standing with them, but I’ll bear the facts on the table.”
