Senator Temporarily Steps Down from Duties Due to Health Concerns

Senator Agom Jarigbe, who represents Cross River North in the National Assembly, has announced a temporary withdrawal from legislative and constituency activities to focus on his health. In a statement released on Monday, July 1, the lawmaker revealed that he is currently receiving medical attention and following doctors’ advice to take time off.

As a result of his absence, a major endorsement rally that had been planned for the coming days has been postponed. Senator Jarigbe described the break as a necessary pause, assuring constituents that it is in the interest of both his recovery and his ability to serve effectively. “This is a necessary pause, and I am having proper medical attention. God willing, I expect to fully resume my responsibilities within the next two weeks or even sooner,” he stated.

He expressed gratitude for the prayers and goodwill he has received from constituents, urging for understanding and support during this time. Emphasising the unpredictability of health challenges, he noted, “No mortal is immune to health challenges. This moment reminds us of the fragile nature of life and the need for compassion.”

Addressing political reactions to his health status, the senator cautioned against exploiting his condition for political gain. “Let us not lose our shared sense of humanity in the name of politics,” he said, adding that he remains committed to his legislative duties and will return as soon as he is fit to do so.

In the meantime, Senator Jarigbe encouraged constituents in need of urgent healthcare support to reach out to his constituency office, reaffirming his continued dedication to the people of Cross River North.
