Senator Ned Nwoko Threatens Legal Action Over Alleged Coordinated Online Defamation Campaign
Senator Ned Nwoko has threatened legal action over what he describes as a coordinated online defamation campaign targeting him. The Delta North lawmaker, through a statement from his communications team on Thursday, alleged that certain individuals are orchestrating cyber-stalking, harassment, and defamatory content to create a false impression of persecution.
The statement claimed the recent surge of videos and online publications is intended to promote a misleading narrative for ulterior motives. Senator Nwoko emphasized that he remains focused on his legislative, developmental, and business responsibilities, rejecting what he called “online distractions or fabricated drama.”
He warned against the growing trend of using public sympathy to shield alleged wrongdoers, describing it as a threat to national values. “Our attention has been drawn to a renewed pattern of online harassment, cyber-stalking, and coordinated defamatory videos and publications targeted at Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko. These actions appear calculated to create a false narrative of persecution in order to serve ulterior motives,” the statement read.
While the Senator avoids social media disputes, he stressed that serious allegations must be addressed legally rather than through misinformation or emotional manipulation. “We must caution the public that the growing culture of supporting deviant conduct, shielding wrongdoers, and weaponising public sympathy is damaging to our national values,” the statement added.
Senator Nwoko has directed his legal team to petition the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the DSS, and the Cyber Crime Unit for a full investigation and prosecution of those involved, noting that digital footprints will be traced and legal action will follow. The statement also highlighted concerns over possible interference from U.S. and U.K. authorities, warning against attempts to exploit family narratives for asylum or other advantages.
The public was urged to disregard circulating claims until proper legal processes are concluded, with Senator Nwoko reaffirming his commitment to “dignity, responsibility, and due process” while continuing his work.
