Security Tightens at National Assembly Over Senator Natasha’s Planned Resumption
Security was visibly heightened at the National Assembly complex on Tuesday following reports that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan planned to resume plenary.
Eyewitnesses observed a significant deployment of security personnel, including armed officers, stationed at the main gate. Entry into the complex was tightly controlled, with vehicles and individuals subjected to thorough screening before being allowed access.
The development follows recent controversy surrounding Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension and a court ruling nullifying that suspension. While she had earlier indicated plans to return to legislative duties, legal advice prompted her to delay her resumption pending the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the court judgment.
The atmosphere around the National Assembly remained tense as lawmakers, staff, and visitors navigated the reinforced security protocols
