Ronaldo Fires Back at Critics: Saudi League Better Than Ligue 1 and Portuguese League
Al-Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo has asserted that the Saudi Pro League surpasses both the Portuguese Primeira Liga and France’s Ligue 1 in quality.
In a recent interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan, Ronaldo praised the rapid development of the Saudi competition and dismissed critics who downplay his performances since joining the Middle Eastern club.
“The Saudi League is much better than the Portuguese league and also better than Ligue 1 — it’s only PSG there,” Ronaldo said. “People say I score because it’s Saudi League… excuses. Year after year, I keep scoring. Even in a bad season, I scored 25 goals. Numbers don’t lie.”
The Portuguese forward joined Al-Nassr in early 2023 following the termination of his contract with Manchester United in late 2022. Since then, he has become one of the most prominent figures driving global attention to Saudi football.
