Rivers State Reacts to Political Turmoil: Assembly Clerk, Deputy Redeployed
In the midst of an ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, the government has announced significant redeployments within the state assembly. Emeka Amadi, the clerk of the house of assembly, has been reassigned to the state scholarship board, according to a circular dated November 20 from the office of the head of civil service.
The circular, which did not specify a successor for Amadi, also revealed the redeployment of Calistus Ojirika, the deputy clerk/head of department (HOD) legislative department. Ojirika has been moved to the readers project.
Georgewill Otto, an assistant director at the ministry of physical planning and urban development, has been redeployed to the Rivers State Small Town and Rural Water Supply Agency.
The directive mandates Amadi and Ojirika to hand over their responsibilities to the most senior officers in the house of assembly, with the posting taking immediate effect.
This reshuffling occurs approximately three weeks after an attempted impeachment of Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers. The political unrest in the state has been linked to rumored tensions between Fubara and Nyesom Wike, the immediate former governor and current minister of the federal capital territory (FCT).
Despite reported interventions by prominent figures, including President Bola Tinubu, aimed at restoring peace in the state, speculations persist that the political crisis is far from being resolved. The redeployments within the state assembly add another layer to the unfolding political drama in Rivers State.
