Rivers State Government Refutes Claims of Suspending N195 Billion Ring Road Project

The Rivers State Government has emphatically denied recent reports suggesting the suspension of the N195 billion 50.15km Ring Road Project. This ambitious infrastructure endeavor, which was officially initiated by Governor Siminalayi Fubara back in July, has garnered considerable attention for its potential to reshape the region’s transportation landscape.

The construction contract for this colossal project was entrusted to Julius Berger Nigeria Limited, a reputable construction company known for its commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure. Despite rumors suggesting a halt in progress, the Rivers State Government affirms that work on the Ring Road Project is very much on course.

Commissioner for Information and Communications, Joe Johnson, issued a compelling statement addressing these rumors and firmly refuting the alleged suspension of the project. According to Johnson, the government has already disbursed 77% of the contract sum, highlighting the unwavering commitment to its completion.

“The road project cannot be suspended at this juncture,” Johnson emphasized. He further disclosed that Julius Berger Nigeria Limited is actively working to ensure the timely completion of the Ring Road, which is anticipated to be finalized within the stipulated three-year timeline.

In an effort to quell any doubts and set the record straight, Johnson urged the public and all stakeholders to disregard the erroneous reports. He stressed the significance of the Ring Road Project to the state’s advancement and the enhancement of the local economy, declaring that nothing will impede its progress.

“We wish to inform Rivers people and the general public to disregard such information as false. The project is for the advancement of our state and the improvement of the economy of our dear State; therefore, nothing whatsoever can stop it at this stage,” he asserted.

Furthermore, Commissioner Joe Johnson appealed to information and news outlets, urging them to exercise due diligence and verify their stories before disseminating them to the public.
