Rivers: Fubara reshuffles cabinet, appoints Attorney General

Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved a minor reshuffle of his cabinet, redeploying the Commissioner for Sports Development, Barrister Christopher Green, to the Ministry of Justice.

The decision was taken at an executive meeting and follows recent changes triggered by the political crisis in the state and the Supreme Court judgment that led to the dissolution of affected cabinet members. The development left the position of Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice vacant.

Under the new arrangement, Green has been appointed as the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice. He will, however, continue to oversee the Ministry of Sports in an interim capacity pending the appointment of a substantive commissioner.

The redeployment takes immediate effect.

This was confirmed in a statement signed by Dr Honour Sirawoo, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communications.

According to the statement, the decision was approved at the last State Executive Council meeting for 2025 and is aimed at ensuring continuity in governance and effective coordination across key ministries.
