Retired Imo Police Deputy Commissioner Killed in Ngor-Okpala Attack as Manhunt Intensifies
The Imo State Police Command has confirmed that a retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Kingsley Woke, 56, was killed in a gun attack along Port Harcourt Road in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area.
Reports indicate that armed men emerged from a bush at Amala, shooting the driver of a Toyota Highlander and abducting the occupants of a Lexus RS300. Security analyst Zagazola Makama said DCP Woke, who last served as DC Courses at the Police Staff College in Jos, was traveling from Port Harcourt to Umuahia in Abia State when he was shot in the chest on December 7 near Amala Autonomous Community, shortly after Zion Ministry Church.
DCP Woke, originally from Omuowu in Ikwerre LGA, Rivers State, had his personal effects secured at a local police station and later released to his sister, Mrs. Hope, who confirmed his death.
SP Henry Okoye, the police spokesperson, stated that tactical teams, alongside other security agencies, local vigilantes, and hunters, have intensified efforts to track the attackers and locate the abducted victims. The command reassured the public that all measures are being taken to apprehend the perpetrators and safeguard residents along the Ngor-Okpala corridor.
