OAU: Renowned Faculty of Education Lecturer, Dr Ayo Ojediran, Slumps, Dies

Dr Ayo Ojediran, a respected lecturer in the Faculty of Education at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), has tragically slumped and passed away within the confines of his office. The untimely incident unfolded on Tuesday, leaving the university community in mourning, particularly the students who revered the 52-year-old educator.

The University’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, expressed deep sorrow, labeling the lecturer’s death as an “unpalatable incident.” Olarewaju fondly remembered Dr Ojediran as a remarkably kind and humble individual, always ready to extend a helping hand.

“May your soul rest in perfect peace Dr Ojediran Isaac Ayodele,” he solemnly conveyed.

The President of the Faculty of Education Students Association of Nigeria, Victor Adesokan, recounted the night preceding the tragedy. Adesokan revealed that he had been with Dr Ojediran, who had complained of a persistent headache and displayed signs of exhaustion.

“On Monday night, he complained of headache and stress. We told him to rest. They (lecturers) have too much workload on them. The school needs to recruit more lecturers, most especially in the Faculty of Education,” Adesokan emphasized, shedding light on the overwhelming burden faced by educators.

As the OAU community grapples with this loss, the circumstances surrounding Dr Ojediran’s sudden demise underscore the pressing need for addressing workload concerns among faculty members.
