‘Radical Islamists’ Behind Moscow Terror Attack – Putin
In a recent video call with law enforcement officials, Russian President Vladimir Putin asserted that the devastating attack on Crocus City Hall in Moscow was carried out by “radical Islamists.” However, Putin emphasized the need to determine who orchestrated the assault.
“Russia knows who carried out the Crocus City Hall attack, but is now investigating who gave the order,” Putin stated during the call, as reported by RT.
Pointing fingers towards Ukraine as a potential instigator, Putin highlighted suspicions regarding the origins of the attack. He expressed skepticism towards claims by the US and its allies, who attributed the incident to the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS), suggesting instead that Ukraine may be involved.
Despite international assertions absolving Ukraine of involvement, Putin insisted on uncovering the truth behind the orchestrators of the attack. Russian law enforcement, having apprehended the perpetrators and their accomplices, is conducting a thorough investigation aimed at identifying those responsible.
The tragic event, which claimed the lives of over 130 individuals during a concert at the venue, shocked the nation. Armed assailants indiscriminately opened fire on the crowd and set the hall ablaze, prompting swift action from security forces.
Following the attack, Russian security services detained seven suspects attempting to flee towards Ukraine, along with four alleged accomplices. Notably, the apprehension of ethnic Tajiks raised further questions regarding potential connections to external entities.
Putin underscored the significance of investigating the suspects’ intended destination, emphasizing the need for clarity regarding their affiliations and motives. The involvement of individuals linked to Ukraine prompted inquiries into possible collaboration with extremist elements.
While the US and the EU were quick to dismiss any Ukrainian involvement, attributing the attack solely to the Islamic State Khorasan (ISIS-K), Putin reiterated the imperative of a comprehensive investigation devoid of political bias.
