Prevail on Gov Soludo to Refrain from Actions Destroying APGA, Chekwas Okorie Begs Tinubu

In a bid to address the escalating crisis within the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Chekwas Okorie, a founding member and former national chairman, has called upon President Bola Tinubu to intervene. Okorie’s plea comes amidst mounting tensions triggered by Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s alleged disregard for Chief Edozie Njoku as the party’s national chairman.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, Okorie accused Governor Soludo of instigating a leadership crisis that threatens to destabilize APGA. He emphasized the pivotal role of APGA in Nigerian politics, citing its historical significance as a platform for notable figures like Governor Rochas Okorocha, Governor Willie Obiano, and the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu.

“We need a peaceful environment to re-launch APGA as a national political party that will reclaim its rightful place in Nigeria’s democratic space,” Okorie asserted, urging party members to unite behind him in resolving the internal strife.

He further appealed directly to President Tinubu, describing him as the “father of the nation,” to use his influence to urge Governor Soludo to desist from actions detrimental to the party’s cohesion.

“I urge the national chairman of the party, Chief Edozie Njoku, and the National Working Committee to petition the highest authorities, including the President of Nigeria and international bodies, regarding this threat to democracy,” Okorie emphasized.
