Press Release From the Office of the PDP Lagos State Chairman, Engr Adedeji Doherty today the 22nd of October 2020:

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press .
It is with great sadness in my heart that I address you today regarding the various developments that have evolved over the past couple of days in our state.

The #EndSars Protest as we all know started up well organized , articulated , timely,orderly and was well executed during the first few days

This laudable protest gained the sympathy of the majority of Lagosians and later spread to other parts of the country including some African and Western Nations.

This trend of events which continued to gather inconceivable momentum all over the world became a source of worry to some selfish politicians who decided to give the movement a bad name and image.

Consequently, Lagos state especially the entire country has come under siege by unscrupulous elements who are being Supported by some unknown persons.

The Lagos State PDP led by the State Chairman led by Engr Adedeji Doherty hereby calls on the Lagos State Governor to seek help in terms of mediation between the protesters and Government from reputable organizations like the NBA, NANS, NUJ and the NMA urgently.

Furthermore it is quite evident that the unraveling of the COVID-19 Palliative warehouses which was stormed by residents In Amuwo Odofin local government has negatively sealed the area of trust between the Government and its people.

This is a very serious crime to humanity and a slap on the face of our ever suffering citizens who have been under economic hardship for the past 7 months .
Our Governor, Babajide Sanwo Olu would recall that The PDP Lagos State Chapter assisted government by distributing over 3000 cartons of Honeywell Noodles and bags of rice during the peak of the Covid period, you would also recall that the Federal Government gave Lagos State Government the sum of N10 Billion as Covid-19 assistance to the state which never reached the people adequately.

The exposure of a warehouse full of covid 19 palliative which was meant for immediate distribution to the good people of Lagos State and later today found locked up is a testimony to the fact that the Government of the day had definitely taken the people of Lagos for granted.

Instead of distributing the palliatives in a non partisan Manner the Lagos state Government was hoarding it for it to be used as a campaign Greek gift during the upcoming Lagos East Election.

This occurrence has shown clearly that the Government of the day is certainly insensitive to the plight of our people .
Our Stand on this is quite simple, we hereby call on our youths in Lagos State especially the #EndSars protest organizers to reorganize themselves by also involving the Civil Defense Corp for adequate security in their activities after seeking representative assistance from the institutions mentioned earlier.

The hoodlums and miscreants must be alienated from this laudable struggle but the struggle must also have a human face .
The destruction of assets , property or lives does not and will not go down well with the hardworking residents in the state.

Our weapon should be our voters cards and our commitment to seeing that our votes count in future elections.
