Presidency Reacts to Report of Alleged Plot to Poison President Tinubu

The Presidency has dismissed as false a viral report alleging that a chef at the State House in Abuja was arrested over an alleged plan to poison President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The claim, which circulated widely on social media over the weekend, suggested that an unnamed member of the kitchen staff at the Presidential Villa had been apprehended in connection with a plot against the President. The report did not provide verifiable details or identify any credible source.

Responding to an enquiry from *The Nation*, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Tope Ajayi, described the allegation as untrue.

“Fake,” Ajayi said in a brief reply when contacted.

The rumour generated significant online attention, prompting concern among some members of the public. However, no official statement or evidence has supported the claim.

In recent months, government officials have cautioned against the spread of unverified information, warning that false reports can erode trust in public institutions.
