Presidency Reacts to Ex-ADC Chairman’s Claim of Being Offered 3 Ministerial Slots to Sabotage Opposition Coalition Effort
The Presidency has dismissed as false and baseless the claim by former African Democratic Congress (ADC) Chairman, Ralph Nwosu, that he was offered three ministerial slots to back out of an opposition coalition effort.
Reacting on Tuesday, the Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Policy Communication, Dr. Daniel Bwala, described Nwosu’s allegation as a fabrication that lacks credibility. In a post on his verified X handle, Bwala said no senior government official has the authority to offer ministerial appointments, emphasizing that only the President can make such decisions.
“From his words as reported, you know that he lied,” Bwala wrote, dismissing the suggestion that top members of the Tinubu administration tried to induce Nwosu to frustrate plans for an opposition alliance using the ADC platform.
He further stated, “No government official(s) of whatever rank in our government can promise or grant ministerial slots but Mr President.” Bwala argued that if such an offer were ever made, it would have come directly from President Tinubu, not intermediaries.
Bwala also challenged Nwosu to name those allegedly involved in the purported offer. “The same courage he mustered saying he was promised slots by the officials could have been used in mentioning their names and positions in this government,” he said.
In a scathing remark directed at the opposition’s attempts to form a united front, Bwala added, “They are painfully graduating to Association of Jesters or Association of Disorganised Characters.”
