Popular Ibadan-Based Pastor Faces Allegations of Fraud and Sexual Misconduct

Ibadan-based cleric Agbala Gabriel, whose real name is Kayode Amusan, is facing allegations of sexual misconduct and mismanagement of public donations raised for sick individuals.

For years, the pastor built a strong online following through videos showing him praying for struggling families and appealing for financial support for people with medical needs. His ministry often mobilised donations from Nigerians on social media who viewed him as a cleric dedicated to charity.

That image has recently come under scrutiny as a series of accusations circulating on Facebook, TikTok and Instagram placed him at the centre of an online debate involving a medical fundraising case and claims about his personal relationships.

One of the controversies involves a woman identified as Morenikeji, who reportedly suffered from a spinal condition and whose medical situation had earlier attracted public donations. Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola said in a viral video that she initially helped raise money for the woman’s surgery but later withdrew when the patient’s family sought help from Agbala Gabriel.

According to Daramola, she later learned the cleric allegedly abandoned the woman and failed to provide the accommodation and surgery he had promised. The patient’s daughter also claimed in the same video that she eventually took her mother away from the pastor over concerns about how the case was being handled.

As that controversy continued to spread online, another allegation emerged from blogger Iyalaje Courtroom, who during a live broadcast accused the cleric of mismanaging donations and maintaining relationships with women connected to his church.

The blogger alleged that one of the women, Bolu, a former backup singer in the church, became pregnant for the pastor and later gave birth to twins. She claimed the cleric initially denied the pregnancy before later accepting responsibility and providing accommodation for the woman and the children.

Charity advocate Princess Adeyinka also alleged she intervened when the issue first surfaced, saying she personally urged the pastor to take responsibility after he initially denied the claim.

The allegations have triggered intense reactions online, with supporters defending the pastor’s years of charitable work while critics demand greater transparency regarding donations raised through his ministry.

Responding to the accusations, Agbala Gabriel denied wrongdoing, describing the claims as false attempts to tarnish his reputation. He said public attacks against prominent clerics were common on social media and insisted the allegations against him were untrue.
