Popular Fashion Designer Kidnapped, Killed by Sea Pirates in Rivers State
Suspected sea pirates have killed renowned fashion designer Hope Georgewill in Rivers State. The tragic incident occurred on March 26, 2025, along the New Calabar River in Degema Local Government Area. The pirates ambushed a speedboat, the “H.J. Miracle,” which was traveling from Elem-Kalabari to Port Harcourt. The boat, equipped with Yamaha outboard engines, was carrying the operator, Lucky Isokariari, along with Georgewill and two other individuals.
The attackers kidnapped the boat’s operator and the three passengers, fleeing with the boat to an undisclosed location. Following the kidnapping, the pirates contacted the boat owner using the operator’s phone, demanding a ransom of N10 million for the victims’ release.
Despite efforts to secure his release, Georgewill was tragically killed by the pirates on Friday afternoon.
