Pope Francis Appoints Monsignor Thomas Obiatuegwu as Auxiliary Bishop of Orlu Diocese
His Holiness, Pope Francis, has appointed Monsignor Thomas Obiatuegwu, a native of Uli in Anambra State, as the Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Orlu, located in Imo State. Uli falls within the jurisdiction of the Orlu Catholic Diocese.
The formal ordination ceremony for Monsignor Obiatuegwu is scheduled to take place on March 20, 2024, at the Holy Trinity Cathedral Church in Orlu. Following this auspicious event, the Uli community is set to host a grand reception in his honor on March 23, 2024, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Uli.
Prior to this esteemed appointment, Monsignor Obiatuegwu served as the Parish Priest of St. Thomas’ Catholic Church in Umuna, where he held the Titular See of Horrea Coelia.
