Policemen feared dead as gunmen attack Police Station, burn INEC office in Anambra State
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, has confirmed an attack on Police “B” Division in Awka, Anambra State by gunmen.
The gunmen also attacked and burned down the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) also in Awka.
The incidents were said to have happened at about 9pm on Sunday night.
Eyewitness reports however has it that the gunmen arrived in three Hilux vans and started shooting sporadically before eventually setting the Police station ablaze.
They also moved on to set the INEC office ablaze.
Some Police officers were also reported to have been killed during the incident.
The Police PPRO in the State however said he only had scanty information on the development.
