Police Recover Stolen TRACAS Bus in Anambra, Hoodlums Abandon Vehicle
Police in Anambra State have recovered a stolen shuttle bus belonging to the Transport Company of Anambra State (TRACAS) after it was snatched by a five-man armed gang. The recovery was made on Saturday, May 17, 2025, in the Nkwelle area of Oyi Local Government.
According to a statement released on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the vehicle, a shuttle bus with registration number AGU 651 ZL, was recovered by operatives from the Obosi Divisional Headquarters. The recovery followed a distress call made to the Anambra Police Command Control Room by the driver, who reported that the gang had disguised themselves as passengers before robbing him of N20,000 and the bus.
Responding swiftly, the police alerted nearby checkpoints and launched a coordinated operation that led to the interception of the vehicle. The suspects, realizing escape routes were blocked, abandoned the bus at Slaughter Junction in Nkwelle and fled through a nearby bush.
Security patrols in the area have since been intensified to maintain public safety and track down the fleeing criminals.
