Police Insist El-Rufai, ADC Leaders Must Appear in Person Over Criminal Summons
The Kaduna State Police Command has insisted that former Governor Nasir El-Rufai and six other senior members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) appear in person before the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to respond to its summons.
Police spokesperson Mansir Hassan told newsmen on Tuesday that the command is still awaiting the personal appearance of El-Rufai and the other invitees, stressing that representatives will not be accepted.
The summons, according to the Police, relates to alleged criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous hurt. While El-Rufai and the other ADC members failed to appear personally, they sent lawyers and the party chairman to represent them.
The police command responded by reiterating that all individuals summoned, including the former governor, must appear in person and cannot be represented by lawyers or party officials.
