Police Arrests Convenant University lecturer for raping 17year old girl
The Police have arrested 42 year old Dr Stephen Ukenna, a lecturer in the Department of Business management at the Covenant University Ota, for allegedly raping a 17-year-old student.
The lecturer was arrested following a complaint lodged by the parents of the girl at Ota Area command.
The victim’s parents had told the police that their daughter informed them that the lecturer raped her in his office.
Reports have it that the lecturer had invited the girl to his office under the pretext of a surprise birthday party.
However, on getting to the lecturer’s office, it was reported that he locked the office door and allegedly raped the girl in his office.
The Spokesman of the Ogun Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed receipt of the report.
He stated that, the Area Commander Ota, ACP Muyideen Obe on getting the report immediately ordered the arrest of the lecturer.
He further said the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department on the orders of the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, for further investigation.
The Ogun State Police spokesperson said “On interrogation, the suspect admitted having carnal knowledge of the victim, but was unable to give any reason for his action.”
