Plateau Cleric Vows to Drag FG Before ICC Over Alleged Christian Killings
A Plateau State cleric, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has vowed to take the Federal Government before the International Criminal Court over what he described as ongoing killings of Christians in northern Nigeria. Dachomo, the regional leader of the Church of Christ in Nations, said he had embarked on a personal mission to document what he called “mass killings” across several states. He added that the evidence he gathers would be submitted to the United States government and other members of the international community.
In an interview, Dachomo accused both the Federal Government and the Christian Association of Nigeria of downplaying the crisis. He claimed that their silence and denials had encouraged further attacks on Christian communities. The cleric said he was determined to expose what he called a “genocide” through detailed reports, photographs, and testimonies from affected areas.
Dachomo revealed that the church had received over ₦7 million in donations from Nigerians to support survivors and families of victims. He said the funds were being used to provide food, medical assistance, and financial support to widows, orphans, and displaced persons. He noted that the donations came directly from concerned citizens who reached out via social media after learning about his efforts.
The cleric, who came into the spotlight during the mass burial of victims of a recent attack in Heipang, Plateau State, said he had visited several communities in Plateau, Benue, and other northern states to gather first-hand information. According to him, many attacks went unreported, and hundreds of victims were buried in unmarked graves.
Citing past incidents, he recalled that more than 500 people were killed overnight in Dogo Nahawa and that 23 residents of his own village, including the family of his best friend, were burnt alive. Dachomo added that seven people were recently killed in Jaruwa and that church members were burnt to death during a worship service.
“The world needs to know the truth,” he said. “I will go to any length to prove that the government is lying. We are also planning to take Nigeria before the International Criminal Court and to sue the Miyetti Allah association for their involvement.”
Dachomo said he plans to complete his documentation in affected areas such as Wurekum, Doruwa, Mangu, and Bokkos before submitting his report. Despite acknowledging threats to his life, he maintained that he had no fear, saying his faith and divine protection kept him going.
Online, several Nigerians have continued to show support for the cleric, posting evidence of their contributions and messages of encouragement. Dachomo confirmed that the funds are being used for relief and rebuilding efforts in communities devastated by violence, stressing that no form of government aid had been received so far.
