Plateau Attacks: Some people want to sabotage Tinubu’s re-election… we will not allow them — Jonah Jang
Former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang has said there are attempts by some individuals to disrupt President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, insisting that such efforts would not succeed.
He made the comment on Thursday during President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Jos, Plateau State capital, where the president met with families affected by the attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area.
The visit followed the killing of at least 28 residents in the community after armed attackers suspected to be bandits struck on Sunday. Several others were also injured in the incident.
During the engagement with bereaved families, Tinubu said the losses could not be compensated and pledged stronger action to address insecurity. In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president instructed the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, along with security chiefs Waidi Shaibu and Olatunji Disu, to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killings.
Tinubu also assured residents and victims’ families that his administration would pursue justice and provide support to those affected.
Speaking during the visit, Jang expressed confidence in the president’s leadership while warning against what he described as political attempts to undermine the electoral process.
According to him, Tinubu’s administration is making progress and should be allowed to complete its agenda. He added that he looked forward to further discussions with the president in Abuja and wished him safe travels and a peaceful Easter period.
