Photos: Lawmaker Gifts Daughter SUV to Celebrate Secondary School Graduation, Outstanding UTME Result
Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, the representative for the Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam federal constituency of Plateau State in the House of Representatives, has gifted his daughter a brand new Lexus RX crossover SUV. The gift was in celebration of her graduation from Lead British International School, Abuja, and her outstanding performance in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).
Aisha Gagdi, the proud recipient of the luxury vehicle, graduated on Saturday. The celebration was shared on social media by Saminu Maigoro, who posted pictures of Aisha with her father and the new SUV. In his post, Maigoro congratulated Aisha, saying, “Congratulations, Aisha Yusuf Gagdi, on your graduation from Lead British International School Abuja. May it be the beginning of a wonderful journey of life. To celebrate her graduation and great performance in JAMB, her father surprised her with a gift of a car.”
The news sparked mixed reactions among social media users. While many congratulated Aisha on her achievements, others criticized the lawmaker for perceived insensitivity amidst Nigeria’s economic challenges.
One user, Kimkigo Kimkigo, offered words of encouragement: “Congratulations and best wishes, dear sister. May this car gift serve as an encouragement and not a privilege to deviate from your journey to stardom as evidenced by your academic performances so far.”
Conversely, Kamardeen Ibrahim Umar expressed frustration, highlighting the disparity between the political class and ordinary Nigerians: “Congratulations to her, but how can we progress as a country when an intelligent son of a common Nigerian struggles to pay for his JAMB, WAEC, or NECO? Meanwhile, politicians are busy siphoning and sharing our national resources. Let’s #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria.”
Amar Ibrahim also voiced discontent: “See hungry poor people congratulating their looters. How many of you can afford the type of school she attended? Nigerians are not serious! We are the cause of our problems.”
Efforts to obtain a response from Hon. Gagdi were unsuccessful, as he did not reply to SMS or WhatsApp messages seeking his comment.
