“Our Country Is a Disaster, a Laughing Stock All Over the World!” – Trump on New Orleans Terror Attack
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has described the United States as “a disaster” and “a laughing stock all over the world” in response to a deadly attack in New Orleans. The incident, which occurred on New Year’s Eve, saw a U.S. Army veteran inspired by the Islamic State terrorist organization drive a pickup truck into a crowd of revelers on Bourbon Street, killing at least 15 people.
Trump criticized what he referred to as the nation’s “open borders” and lack of effective leadership, attributing the tragedy to systemic failures in national security and governance. In a strongly worded post on his X handle, Trump took aim at the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Democrat-led state and local authorities, accusing them of negligence.
“Our country is a disaster, a laughing stock all over the world! This is what happens when you have OPEN BORDERS, with weak, ineffective, and virtually nonexistent leadership,” Trump wrote.
He further alleged that federal agencies have prioritized political attacks on him over safeguarding national security. “The DOJ, FBI, and Democrat state and local prosecutors have not done their job. They are incompetent and corrupt, having spent all of their waking hours unlawfully attacking their political opponent, ME, rather than focusing on protecting Americans from the outside and inside violent SCUM that has infiltrated all aspects of our government.”
Trump called for immediate intervention by the CIA, warning of a “violent erosion of safety, national security, and democracy” across the country. In his post, he declared that only strong leadership could prevent further decline, ending with a nod to his 2024 campaign slogan: “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”
