Osun Judiciary Reacts to Reports of Fining Woman N150K for Collecting N3K Transport Fare from Boyfriend and Failing to Show Up
The Osun State Judiciary has refuted claims that a magistrate ordered a woman to pay N150,000 for failing to visit her boyfriend after collecting N3,000 in transport fare.
The widely circulated report alleged that a woman, identified as Rhoda Adu, received the money from Olapitan Sola but failed to show up and switched off her phone. It further claimed that a magistrate named Akogun Oludare ordered Adu to compensate Sola with N150,000. However, the individuals behind the story later admitted that the claim was a prank and that both “Akogun Oludare” and “Rhoda Adu” were fictional characters used in their joke.
The Osun State High Court, through its Chief Registrar, F. I. Omisade, addressed the false report in an official statement, describing it as fake and disturbing. Omisade clarified that there is no magistrate named Akogun Oludare within the Osun State Judiciary and that no such ruling was ever issued.
The Nigerian Bar Association, Ilesa Branch, also issued a statement denying the claim, reinforcing that no such court order exists.
