Osun Government Promotes Safe Sex, Distributes Condoms for Valentine’s Day
The Osun State Government has urged residents to prioritize safe sexual practices and avoid unprotected sex, especially during Valentine’s Day celebrations.
In a statement issued by the Executive Secretary of the Osun State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS (O-SACA), Olusegun Daramola, the government announced plans to distribute free condoms and lubricants at select malls and lounges across the state. This initiative aims to promote awareness and reduce the risk of HIV/AIDS transmission.
Daramola emphasized that Valentine’s Day presents an opportunity to reinforce public health messages about HIV prevention. He warned that unprotected sex remains a major factor in the spread of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections, urging residents to take necessary precautions.
“It’s essential to avoid risky behaviors, such as unprotected sexual intercourse. We encourage those who haven’t already done so to get tested and know their status,” he said.
He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration to reducing HIV prevalence in the state. He also called on the public to support efforts to end AIDS by 2030.
“To support safe practices, the agency will provide condoms and lubricants at selected locations, including malls and lounges. Please approach our vendors to access these valuable resources. Let’s share love, not the disease,” the statement concluded.
