In a tragic incident involving Japan’s Self-Defence Forces, one person has been confirmed dead, and seven others are missing after two military helicopters possibly collided and crashed. The helicopters were conducting nighttime anti-submarine drills when the accident occurred.
The crash, which took place late on Saturday, prompted an immediate response from rescue teams. Defence Minister Minoru Kihara revealed that rescuers spotted wreckage believed to be from the two helicopters in the sea. “At this point, the cause is unknown, but firstly we do our best to save lives,” he said.
Japan’s self-defence force spokesperson confirmed that one person was recovered and later confirmed dead, while the search continues for the other seven missing personnel. Details surrounding the crash remain unclear as investigations continue, and authorities work tirelessly to rescue and recover those still unaccounted for.
