It has come to our notice that unemployed Youths from Lagos and Ekiti States arranged by the APC under the pretext of assisting their Governor in the Ondo State Elections are presently being moved into Ondo State.
Reports have it that, these persons could end up creating unimaginable trouble during the forthcoming Gubernatorial elections.
The peace loving members of the People’s Democratic Party in Lagos State hereby send a warning to the APC that all those involved in the said movement should stop forthwith.
We hereby also call on our Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu to investigate this operation with the intent to stop this illegal mass movement of our Youths in Lagos State as they have been continuously used by Politicians to settle scores during elections, and this should stop.
Furthermore, we also notify the APC both in Lagos State and Ondo State that we already have a fore knowledge of their sinister plans and we would do everything in our capacity and within the ambit of the law to ensure that the “political battleground” in Ondo State remains peaceful.
We hereby also notify the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and all security agencies especially the IG of Police and the Director of the DSS in Ondo State of these movement of unidentified youths from Lagos and Ekiti state who have the characteristics of causing trouble and who could go to the extent of causing bloodshed in Ondo State.
We hereby put the Governor of Ondo state on notice, that as the Chief Security Officer of the State, it is his responsibility to ensure the safety of lives and properties, and as such the lives of all PDP members including that of our Governorship Candidate Barrister Eyitayo Jegede must be protected.
The APC in both states should realise that they do not have the monopoly of violence, as we all know the outcome when violence meets violence.
Suffice to state that, the National body of the PDP headed by Prince Uche Secondus, while visiting Ondo state stressed on the need to maintain peace and he highlighted on the “One man One vote” slogan which was coined by an APC leader, this we all know ultimately leads to free, fair and peaceful elections.
Democratic Elections shouldn’t be a do or die affair as every elected Government is given ample time to show its ability to deliver on its promises to its people.
We would like to seize this opportunity to plead with INEC and all security agencies to be fair and neutral, pre and post elections in Ondo State as anything short of that, could spark civil unrest in the entire Southwest and most especially in Lagos State where the political environment is becoming heated up as we approach our bye- elections.
Furthermore, we also plead that the same standard of neutrality should strictly be adhered to during the October 31st, 2020 Lagos East Senatorial District and Kosofe Constituency II House of Assembly bye elections in Lagos State.
Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Long Live the People’s Democratic Party
Signed:
Engr Adedeji Doherty
Chairman People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Lagos State Chapter
