“Okowa’s Endorsement of Tinubu Validates My 2023 Stand” – Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has applauded former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for throwing his support behind President Bola Tinubu. Wike described the move as a clear validation of his own decision to back Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election.

The show of support comes as Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), with Okowa reportedly preparing to follow suit. Oborevwori, who succeeded Okowa after winning the 2023 governorship election under the PDP, is now aligning with the ruling party.

In a statement issued through his spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, Wike said Okowa’s endorsement reaffirms the quality of Tinubu’s leadership and his administration’s development agenda. “It is another endorsement of the president’s good governance and commitment to the development of the country,” Wike said.

Expressing satisfaction, Wike added, “I am particularly happy that what I saw before the 2023 presidential election, others are now seeing and are joining the Renewed Hope train.”

Wike emphasized that the timing of the endorsements from both Okowa and Oborevwori is significant for the Niger Delta region. “They have come out at the right time to show support for the president so that the people of Niger Delta can benefit more from the government, and I commend them.”

He further praised the duo for making what he called a “heartwarming decision,” which he believes stems from recognizing President Tinubu’s dedication to national unity and development.

The minister concluded by calling on other Nigerians who are yet to support the president to come on board, stressing the need for unity in building the nation.
