NSCDC Officer Dismissed for Alleged Drug and Ammunition Supply to Terrorists in Zamfara
The Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has dismissed one of its officers, ASCII Maikano Sarkin-Tasha, over allegations of collaborating with terrorists. The officer is accused of supplying drugs and ammunition to armed groups terrorizing the region.
The dismissal was announced by Zamfara NSCDC Commandant, Sani Mustapha, during a press briefing in Gusau. Sarkin-Tasha’s arrest came as part of a broader operation, with the officer being among 17 suspects paraded by the state police on Friday.
According to Mustapha, Sarkin-Tasha was apprehended at a checkpoint between Damba and Sabon Gida while en route to his hometown of Mada village in Gusau Local Government Area. Authorities reportedly found cannabis, other illicit substances, and three G3 rifle armors, as well as an anti-rocket launcher armor in his possession.
Expressing shock and disappointment, Mustapha revealed that the NSCDC Commandant-General, Dr. Ahmed Audi, has condemned the officer’s actions. Dr. Audi ordered Sarkin-Tasha’s immediate dismissal, emphasizing that such behavior would not be tolerated within the Corps.
