Northern Governors’ Forum Pledges N180 Million for Kaduna Airstrike Victims

In a show of solidarity and support, the Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF) has announced a collective donation of N180 million to aid the Kaduna State Government and victims affected by the recent bombing in the Tudun Biri Community of Igabi Local Government Area.

This resolution was disclosed in a communique signed by the NGF Chairman and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, following their inaugural meeting held in Kaduna on Friday. The forum expressed deep condolences to the Government and people of Kaduna State for the tragic incident that claimed approximately 100 lives and left numerous others hospitalized.

“The forum has collectively resolved to support the Kaduna State Government and victims of the unfortunate incident of bombing at Tudun Biri Community of Igabi LGA by donating the sum of N180,000,000.00 only to the victims,” stated the communique.

In addition to the financial aid, the NGF pledged to collaboratively investigate the incident, with an emphasis on compensating victims and implementing corrective measures to prevent future occurrences. The forum reiterated its commitment to addressing various challenges in the region, including enhanced security, peaceful coexistence, economic development, youth employment, drug abuse, and the revitalization of education at all levels.

Commending the Federal Government’s intensified efforts in combating insecurity, kidnapping, banditry, communal clashes, and terrorism in the region, the NGF vowed to stand united in collaboration with security agencies. The resolution emphasized the importance of strengthening local law enforcement, community engagement, adopting modern technology, administrative reforms, and addressing root causes of insecurity, such as poverty, unemployment, and social inequality.

Furthermore, the NGF acknowledged the need to address environmental challenges in Northern Nigeria, recognizing the threat to rural livelihood, farmer-herder conflicts, and the exacerbation of poverty and insecurity. The forum expressed its commitment to tackling these issues collectively for the overall well-being of the Northern region.
