No Vice President Has Enjoyed the Total Confidence and Full Support of His Principal Like Shettima” – Presidency

ABUJA – The Nigerian Presidency has firmly denied allegations of a strained relationship between President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, labeling the rumors as baseless and unfounded.

In a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, it was emphasized that Vice President Shettima enjoys the full confidence and support of President Tinubu. Nkwocha highlighted that no vice president in Nigeria’s history has ever had such a strong backing from their principal as Shettima does.

The statement was part of a tribute celebrating Vice President Shettima’s 58th birthday, titled “VP Shettima @ 58: A Boss, Mentor And Quintessential Leader.” Nkwocha took the opportunity to debunk the circulating rumors that suggest Shettima has been sidelined by the current administration, describing these claims as part of a smear campaign aimed at creating a false narrative of discord within the presidency.

Nkwocha praised Shettima’s leadership qualities, noting his long-standing dedication to public service. “Throughout his political career, Senator Shettima has consistently demonstrated the attributes of an effective leader, inspiring hope and progress at every level he has served,” Nkwocha stated. He further emphasized that working under Shettima has been a privilege, noting the vice president’s focus on the greater good over narrow, self-serving interests.

Addressing the specific rumors of tension between Tinubu and Shettima, Nkwocha clarified that these are mere fabrications. “For those peddling ludicrous conspiracy theories of a fictional rift in the presidency, here is the truth: In the history of Nigeria’s Presidency, no Vice President has enjoyed the total confidence and full support of his principal like Shettima,” he said.

Nkwocha also highlighted Shettima’s loyalty to President Tinubu, calling it “absolute and unalloyed.” He praised the vice president for his unwavering support and harmonious collaboration with the president, which stands in contrast to the public disagreements seen in previous administrations. Shettima’s recent praise of President Tinubu as a “good soul” and a trustworthy leader was cited as further evidence of the strong relationship between the two.

The tribute also underscored Shettima’s contributions to the administration, particularly his background in banking and finance, which has been instrumental in shaping economic policies. His efforts in advocating for fiscal discipline, investment in infrastructure, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises have been key drivers of economic growth under the Tinubu administration.

Furthermore, Shettima’s commitment to social justice and human development, especially his focus on education, healthcare, and social welfare, was lauded as pivotal in advancing the administration’s social reform agenda. His influence in representing the concerns of the North East region at the highest levels of government was also noted as a significant factor in promoting regional balance and inclusivity.

In conclusion, Nkwocha reaffirmed that the rumors of Shettima being sidelined are far from the truth, stating that the vice president continues to play a vital role in the Tinubu administration, contributing to its vision for a renewed and prosperous Nigeria.
