“No Gree for Terrorists This Year,” DHQ Admonishes Nigerians
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has issued a strong call to Nigerians, urging them to actively resist and report terrorist activities to ensure a secure environment in the new year.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Edward Buba, addressing journalists in Abuja on Thursday, emphasized the importance of citizens being vigilant and promptly reporting any suspicious activities to security operatives. He reassured the public that the military would swiftly respond to such information.
“Make Nigerians no gree for terrorists this year. You see something, you say something, and we assure them of doing something,” he stated in pidgin, echoing a popular slang ‘no gree for anybody’ that encourages individuals to stand firm in their beliefs.
In response to concerns raised by the Nigeria Police Force spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, about the potential crisis associated with the slang, Buba underscored the military’s commitment to locating and neutralizing terrorists throughout 2024.
“The aim of our ongoing operations remains unchanged and clear even in the new year 2024. We aim to find and destroy the terrorist wherever they may be hiding to ensure their enduring defeat,” Buba affirmed. He further highlighted recent successful military operations that resulted in the elimination of 86 terrorists and the arrest of 101 individuals involved in criminal activities.
“Our operations resulted in 86 neutralized terrorists with 101 of them arrested. Troops also arrested 30 perpetrators of oil theft and rescued 21 kidnapped hostages. In the SS, troops denied oil theft of the estimated sum of N736,115,470.00 only,” Buba concluded, emphasizing the military’s unwavering commitment to national security.
