NNPCL Slashes Fuel Price in Nationwide Adjustment

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reduced the price of premium motor spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, across its filling stations. A correspondent from Daily Post reported on Saturday that the new price in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, is now N935 per litre, down from the previous price of N950 per litre.

Motorists in Abuja confirmed the new price adjustment at NNPCL retail outlets. Abdullahi Hashim, a resident of Kubwa, Abuja, noted the change early Saturday morning, describing it as a positive development. “I observed the drop in the fuel price to N935 per litre on Saturday morning. It is a welcome development,” Hashim said.

Bukola Adewole, another Abuja resident, mentioned that she noticed the new price in Wuse Zone 4 on Friday, with the NNPCL filling station on Kubwa Expressway reflecting the adjustment soon after.

This price reduction follows a similar move by Dangote Refinery, which recently announced a cut in its ex-depot petrol price from N865 to N835 per litre. The refinery, with a production capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, stated that its partners, such as MRS and AP filling stations, would sell petrol at prices ranging from N890 to N920 per litre, depending on location.

However, MRS filling stations in Abuja have not been dispensing fuel since April 16, 2025, the day Dangote Refinery made the announcement regarding the price reduction.
