Nine Passengers Abducted After Attack on Peace Mass Transit Bus in Kogi

Nine passengers were abducted on Thursday when gunmen attacked a Peace Mass Transit bus along the Itobe–Anyagba Expressway in Kogi State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the incident in a post on X on Friday, stating that the attack took place at about 4:20 p.m. near Ogbabo Junction. The armed men reportedly emerged from the bush, fired several shots, and forced the bus to stop.

The driver, identified as Sunday Okechi, and six passengers managed to escape, but nine others were seized and taken into the bush. Security operatives who responded to the distress call recovered the abandoned bus, bearing registration number ENZ-55 XS, along with a blue Toyota Carina ‘E’. Both vehicles have since been secured.

A combined team of security agencies, members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, and local hunters has begun a search-and-rescue operation to free the abducted passengers and track down the perpetrators.
