Nigeria’s First Professor of International Aviation Law Emerges

 

Prof. Ismail Mustapha Adua, an academic from Ilorin, Kwara State, has made history as Nigeria’s first Professor of International Aviation Law. Recently promoted to the rank of Professor by the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Adua has made significant contributions to the field, having joined the institution in 2008 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Business Law. He later advanced to the position of Associate Professor in 2021.

 

Adua, who received the departmental prize for best final-year student in Islamic Law at the University of Ilorin in the 2003/2004 academic session, is well-known for his scholarly work. One of his notable publications includes a 2015 paper on aviation security and the role of airline passengers in combating air terrorism.

 

The announcement of his historic achievement has sparked widespread celebration. Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, extended his congratulations, commending Adua’s dedication and hard work. In a statement, the governor expressed pride in Adua’s accomplishment, praying for continued success and the rewards that come with such a milestone.

 

The Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN), Kwara State chapter, also joined in celebrating the academic’s elevation. In a statement, the association lauded Adua’s achievement, highlighting the significance of his position as the first professor of International Aviation Law in Nigeria. The group prayed for Adua’s health, prosperity, and longevity, acknowledging his accomplishments as a step toward even greater successes in the future.
