Nigerian Singer Ifunanya Nwangene Dies After Cobra Bite in Abuja Home
Fast-rising Nigerian singer Ifunanya Nwangene, known professionally as Nanya_music and the “Soprano Queen,” has died at 25 after being bitten by a cobra inside her Abuja residence.
The incident occurred on Saturday, January 31. Reports from friends suggest that she was rushed to a hospital immediately after the bite but tragically could not be saved due to the unavailability of an antidote.
Videos circulating online show a snake catcher holding a cobra found in Nwangene’s room. In the footage, observers note the possibility of additional snakes in the house, as the singer had reportedly warned of seeing another large snake prior to the incident. Some unverified reports on social media suggest that two snakes may have been present.
The Abuja choral community and fans have taken to social media to mourn Nwangene’s passing. Many described her death as “not ordinary” and celebrated her exceptional vocal talent, noting she was poised for a promising music career.
