Nigerian Senators Generously Donate December Salaries to Military Bombing Victims in Kaduna

In a compassionate gesture, all 109 Nigerian senators have chosen to redirect their December salaries to aid the victims affected by the recent military bombing in Tudun Biri, located in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The combined sum of their contributions amounts to an impactful N109 million.

Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau officially disclosed this altruistic initiative during a condolence visit to Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, at the Government House. The move comes in response to the tragic incident on December 3, where the Nigerian Army, admitting responsibility, mistakenly targeted insurgents but resulted in the loss of numerous civilian lives.

SK Blog had previously highlighted the unfortunate event, emphasizing the army’s acknowledgement of its role in the incident. Scores of civilians fell victim to the bombing, prompting a commitment from the Senate to support those affected financially.

Meanwhile, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, a significant spiritual figure for Nigerian Muslims, has pledged to pursue justice for the civilians who lost their lives in the military bombing. Speaking during the Silver Anniversary celebration of the 11th Emir of Jama’a, Alhaji Muhammad Isa-Muhammad, at the Emir’s Palace in Kafanchan, Kaduna, the Sultan emphasized that the occasion was not only a moment of festivity but also an opportunity to offer prayers for the victims in Tudun Biri.

“We are here not only to celebrate the Emir but to also pray for the emirate and the lives of those killed in Kaduna State. We are going to push for it until justice is served to the people,” he asserted.

Responding to the incident, Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, expressed regret, acknowledging the duty of the military to protect citizens. He assured the public that serious action would be taken to prevent similar occurrences across the nation, as President Bola Tinubu has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
