Nigerian Man in US Stabs Computer Science Professor Father to Death, Injures Sisters
A 27-year-old Nigerian man, Chukwuebuka Eweni, has been arrested in New Orleans after allegedly fatally stabbing his father and injuring his two sisters during a domestic incident on Pebble Street.
Police said the attack occurred on the night of November 11. Officers responding to the home found the victims inside the residence. The father, Samuel Eweni, was pronounced dead at the scene with a stab wound, while his daughters were taken to a local hospital. One has since been discharged, and the other remains admitted but is expected to recover.
Family members told local outlet WWL Louisiana that the deceased was a computer science professor at Southern University at New Orleans. Relatives described the incident as unexpected and said the suspect had a history of mental illness but had not displayed violent behaviour in the past.
The New Orleans Police Department confirmed that Eweni was located in Jefferson Parish and taken into custody for medical evaluation. Detectives identified him as the suspect and secured an arrest warrant on one count of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the official cause of death after the autopsy and notification of next of kin. The investigation remains ongoing.
