Nigerian Government Unveils Plans to Create One Million Jobs Nationwide
The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a strategic initiative to create one million jobs, targeting youth unemployment across the country’s 774 local government areas. This was disclosed by the Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, during a press briefing in Abuja on Friday.
According to Olawande, the government is focused on equipping Nigerian youths with the skills and opportunities to enter the insurance sector, leveraging digital technology as a key tool. The initiative aims to educate, inspire, and connect young people to lucrative career paths, while also promoting financial inclusion and increasing youth participation in the insurance industry.
This announcement follows a series of initiatives aimed at bolstering job creation and infrastructure development. Notably, the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) recently revealed that the Federal Government, in collaboration with the World Bank, will launch a new rural electricity project in November. The project is set to provide power to 17.5 million Nigerians, further enhancing economic opportunities in rural areas.
