“Nigeria Is Not Finished” – Akpabio Urges Citizens to Endure Tinubu’s Reforms

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has urged Nigerians to remain patient as the country continues to experience the effects of President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, assuring that the current hardship is temporary and will yield long-term benefits.

In a statement issued to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, Akpabio congratulated citizens on the milestone and praised their resilience in the face of economic challenges. He emphasized that the reforms, though painful, are necessary to secure a more prosperous future for generations to come.

“At 65, we are matured and should be working for the unity of the nation and prosperity of our people. We salute your resilience, patience, and endurance in the last two years,” he said. “In line with the theme of this year’s celebration, ‘All hands are on deck for a greater Nigeria’, I urge you to continue to bear the temporary discomfort of the ongoing reforms.”

The Senate President acknowledged that the policies have caused hardship but insisted the difficulties would soon pass, noting that the positive impact of the reforms was already beginning to take shape.

He also commended President Tinubu for what he described as his commitment to peace and national development, while applauding members of the National Assembly, the judiciary, and Nigerians at home and abroad for their steadfastness and resilience.

“I must tell you that Nigeria is not finished. Do not buy into the mischievous narrative that Nigeria is irredeemable,” Akpabio declared. “We are on the right pedestal and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration is reshaping the country; we are growing and making progress.”

He called on citizens to unite in support of the reforms, assuring that with collective effort, Nigeria would overcome its present challenges and move closer to its aspirations.

“On behalf of my family, constituents, the 10th Senate and the National Assembly, I congratulate and wish you a peaceful and joyous independence celebration,” Akpabio added.
