“Nigeria Is in Deeper Trouble Than When Tinubu Came” — Hakeem Baba-Ahmed

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a former Special Adviser on Political Matters to Bola Tinubu, says the country is facing more severe challenges now than at the start of the current administration in 2023.

Speaking during an interview on Trust TV on Tuesday, Baba-Ahmed highlighted worsening insecurity and economic strain, arguing that conditions have deteriorated over the past three years.

He said violence across the country has intensified both in frequency and impact, describing recent developments as more serious than previously anticipated. According to him, the administration has not met its stated goals of improving safety and living standards.

Baba-Ahmed also criticised the government’s recent trip to the United Kingdom, noting that it took place shortly after a deadly attack in Borno State. He said the timing underscored a disconnect between official engagements abroad and pressing security concerns at home.

He maintained that addressing insecurity and economic hardship should remain the government’s immediate priority.
