Nigeria Faces Yet Another Blackout as National Grid Collapses

Nigeria’s electricity grid has collapsed once more, leaving the country in darkness. The total generation on the grid hit 0.00 MW at 1:33 pm on Monday, marking the seventh collapse in 2024.

 

This latest system failure follows a similar incident on July 6, 2024, and has caused widespread blackouts across the nation. BusinessDay’s analysis of the Independent System Operators’ data revealed that electricity generation, which had peaked at 4,067.77 MW, plummeted to 823.5 MW before ultimately reaching zero.

Afam VI: 382 MW to 0.00

Azura-Edo IPP: 419 MW to 0.00

Dadinkowa: 36.24 MW to 0.00

Delta Generation: 359 MW to 0.00

Egbin Genco: 222 MW to 0.00

Geregu (gas): 85 MW to 0.00

Geregu NIPP: 100 MW to 0.00

Ibom Power: 68 MW to 0.00

Ihovbor: 103 MW to 0.00

Shiroro (Hydro) GenCo: 340 MW to 0.00

Sapele (steam): 72 MW to 0.00

Rivers IPP: 146 MW to 0.00

Paras Energy (gas): 65 MW to 0.00

Omotosho: 137 MW to 0.00

Omuku: 74 MW to 0.00

Jebba (hydro): 366 MW to 0.00

Kainji (hydro): 240 MW to 0.
