Nigeria
Nigeria: Dying from a treatable disease!
Do you know why I am so passionate about politics?
Because I see the wasteland Nigeria has become. Honestly if you are below 40 you may not have a clue exactly what I mean. But things are looking quite bad from where many of us are standing.
When we thought Nigeria was an awesome place, it shocked us to learn that our parents used to complain about how hard Nigeria was when they had at least 12 hrs of uninterrupted electricity and good roads and jobs.
When they finished Secondary school, there was usually a job waiting .My dad worked and NPA before going to the UK to study in the 60’s. When he returned to Nigeria in 1970, he had two job opportunities to choose from.
Since I am no longer in Nigeria a lot of people feel that I should not even bother myself with what happens there.
When I see what our country has become today, I cannot help but be angry.
YouWin (N10m grant) is now Tradermoni (N10k loan).
Our government now prefers to feed children in school and boasts of the number of catering jobs and produce sales it is creating from the school feeding programme as if to say if we could all fend for ourselves and feed our kids, that same level (if not more) of employment and sales form our agriculture food chain would not be generated.
This generation has no hope unless things change drastically. This is the truth. And unless this government suddenly acquires a heart and soul people will continue to suffer untold hardship.
Nigeria has become the country where the young men and women are unemployed but retirees occupy all positions in government. Things are so bad that our ‘star’ actors in blockbusters of yesteryear are now happy to play cameo roles in low budget movies today. People that should be in their village eating fresh fish are in Abuja working in jobs that would stress out 30 year olds.
If the 30 year olds are ‘retired’ even before they start life, what hope do they have?
We must never stop complaining or talking because we are comfortable.
We must continue to fight for others to have a life that at the very least allows them to survive.
A human being without hope is an Animal.
