“Nigeria Doesn’t Want America to Speak on Terrorism but Wants Their Money” – U.S. Mayor Mike Arnold
The Republican Mayor of Blanco, Texas, Mike Arnold, has criticized Nigeria for rejecting U.S. commentary on terrorism while continuing to seek financial assistance from the country.
Speaking on Monday during an interview on Prime Time, a programme aired by Nigeria’s Arise Television, Arnold questioned Nigeria’s approach to tackling insecurity and managing humanitarian challenges.
“I don’t understand why a nation as mineral-rich as Nigeria has to go and beg for help to save her own people,” he said.
Arnold emphasized that Nigeria has enough resources to support internally displaced citizens and restore stability in affected areas.
“Displaced people are denied stability, their homes are bulldozed with no warning. It is horrific,” he lamented.
The mayor further criticized Nigeria’s stance toward U.S. involvement, adding, “You don’t want America to come here and speak on terrorism, but you want their money. That does not make sense to me whatsoever.”
