Nigeria Customs Service Begins Returning Seized Food Items to Owners in Katsina

In compliance with a presidential directive, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has initiated the process of returning confiscated food items to traders in border communities within Katsina State.

Led by the Katsina Command’s Comptroller, Mohammed Umar, the NCS has already facilitated the return of over six trucks loaded with assorted grains seized along the Kwangwalam-Mai’adua axis.

“The CGC, during his official working visit to Katsina, handed over the presidential directive mandating the return of impounded food items to owners on condition that they are sold in Nigerian markets,” remarked Comptroller Umar.

However, Hon. Jabiru Tsauri, Chief of Staff to Governor Radda and Chairman of the Task Force Committee appointed to address the escalating food prices and combat hoarding, clarified that the released food items would be exclusively sold to residents of Katsina State.
