Newlywed Corps Member Among Two Killed in Jos Highway Reprisal Attack
A reprisal attack along the Jos–Bauchi highway in Plateau State has left two people dead, including a serving National Youth Service Corps member, Ibrahim Haruna, a newly married youth who was days away from completing his service year.
The incident followed an earlier attack on Sunday, March 29, 2026, in Gari Ya Waye community, Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, where about 30 people were reportedly killed.
In the wake of that violence, angry residents allegedly targeted unsuspecting commuters along the highway in a retaliatory strike. Two people were killed during the attack, among them Haruna, who was scheduled to pass out from the NYSC programme on Tuesday, March 31.
The killings heightened tension across parts of Jos North, with residents expressing concern over the possibility of further violence.
In response, the Plateau State Government imposed a 48-hour curfew aimed at restoring order and preventing additional reprisal attacks.
