Nedu Wazobia Steps Down from The Honest Bunch Podcast Amid Controversy
Nigerian media personality Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, widely known as Nedu Wazobia, has announced his resignation from The Honest Bunch podcast amid ongoing controversy.
Nedu’s departure follows a heated backlash stemming from a recent podcast episode featuring comedian and reality TV star Deeone. During the episode, Deeone alleged that social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) was attracted to men. The claim sparked a response from VDM, who accused Nedu of persistently requesting his appearance on the show since 2024 and even offering to buy him a car as an incentive. VDM further alleged that Nedu repeatedly reached out to him, suggesting this was the motive behind Deeone’s allegations against him.
In reaction to the situation, VDM, through his lawyer Deji Adeyanju, issued a warning to Nedu against further contact. He also threatened to expose purported dealings involving female celebrities if the controversy continued.
Amid the growing scrutiny, Nedu released a statement on Instagram on Friday, explaining that his decision to step down was influenced by the increasing level of criticism and accusations he deemed unfounded. He described his experience on the podcast as an enriching journey filled with open discussions and bold perspectives but lamented the overwhelming antagonism that had begun to take a personal toll.
“The past week has brought a lot into perspective for me. Hosting The Honest Bunch Podcast has been an incredible journey—one built on open conversations, bold perspectives, and the willingness to tackle difficult topics. But with that responsibility has come an overwhelming level of scrutiny, antagonism, and unfounded accusations that have now begun to take a personal toll,” Nedu stated.
He emphasized that stepping down was a necessary move for his well-being, family, and the integrity of the show. He expressed hope that his departure would put an end to the controversy surrounding him.
“In light of recent events, I have made the difficult decision to step away from the podcast. This is not a decision I take lightly, but one I believe is necessary—for my peace of mind, for my family, and for the integrity of the show itself. I have always been committed to honest conversations, but when those conversations lead to relentless attacks and misrepresentation, it becomes clear that stepping back is the best path forward,” he explained.
Nedu reaffirmed his dedication to fostering meaningful discussions and looked forward to new opportunities that align with his vision. He also extended his best wishes to the podcast, hoping it would continue to thrive.
“I sincerely hope this decision brings an end to the negativity surrounding my name and allows The Honest Bunch Podcast to continue thriving. I remain committed to fostering dialogue in ways that encourage meaningful engagement and growth, and I look forward to new opportunities that align with that vision.”
